The congress of the Bulgarian Socialist Party went through a series of
moves, counter-moves, and counter-counter-moves in a showdown of
the two main factions in the party. Eventually, Gerogi Parvanov
was elected BSP leader and nominated for the post of the Bulgarian
prime minister. The nomination has to be approved by the
national parliament where BSP has a clear majority.
