According to the agreement achieved on February 10, 1999 the formulation to be used in future accords is: signed "in the official languages according to the Constitution" of the respective country. The declaration and a number of bilateral agreements were signed by the prime ministers of both countries on February 22, 1999. Bulgaria also donated to Macedonia 150 tanks and 150 pieces of artillery.
The resolution of the issue was hailed by the European Union, Germany, U.K., the U.S.A, and Greece, as a step bringing stability to the Balkan region and particularly around the troubled Kosovo province in Yugoslavia.
